Hey guys, we’re gonna be hiking to Silver Lake today. It is June 2nd and it’s 7:30 in the morning and it is freezing, so if you’re coming up at this time of the year wear a jacket because I was dumb and didn’t. So yep, here we go! It’s 4.2 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 1,397 feet it will take about 2 to 3 hours to hike the Cici Outside scale rates it a 5 on difficulty. See my website for a difficulty scale explanation. I recommend getting here early to beat the crowds and get a parking spot in the lot. It may have been cold when we started, but I felt fine once the sun came out. This hike has a beautiful view the entire way. There’s a waterfall and a river. We saw lots of dogs and kids on our way, and for good reason. Up to this point the whole trail has a gradual incline. This last stretch is the only part that’s significantly steep. A the grand finale, the lake. Feeling brave and ready to shiver? Tom and George took the plunge. I instigated it. Sorry, guys. My faculties started seizing and disappearing. The hike was awesome though. Coming up, it’s steep at the first and a little bit here at the end, but good times. I’m short so I don’t have to worry about losing altitude with breathing and stuff. And he carried me, so it was just fine. Well anything else you guys want to say? That you guys should jump in! That was freezing cold. I don’t know why I just did that. I just jumped in the lake! What? But guess what? It was actually colder getting out of the car this morning than it was jumping in the lake. We hiked this on National Trails Day. This year is the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act. Visit my website to check out how you can participate in the celebration. Shout out to all those who give time and money to maintain trails. Be aware that you must pay six dollars to get into the canyon. You also have to drive on a dirt road for three miles. The lake is lovely, and there is always something pretty to look at. I give this hike four and a half stars. If you enjoyed this video, please subscribe and share. Happy trails.
